Only if you promise to stand still when using both iphones then - You can dooooooo it. Can not trust those who worship false idols to walk and talk at the same time.....

Also you must promise to throw out any chewing gum prior to purchase. Chewing gum has proven to be too much of a distraction to those who worship false idols. It seems they can not chew gum and talk on the phone at the same time either.

The new 3G iPhone has a glitch which leads to dropped calls. Apple will not acknowledge this problem, although Apple is reported to be feverishly working on a fix for this problem.

I understand DD is on an Apple diet. How many calories in an iPhone? iPod? Nano?

Actually Cal,

USA Today reported last week that APPL and AT&T admitted to the problem and will be delivering a software patch next week (which of course will relock phones).

I still do not understand why these *software* issues persist. I heard an interview with the editor of MacWorld on NPR a week or two ago and he stated that he was disappointed with how APPL was rushing products to market instead of taking the time to do the user testing that they used to.

Seems to me that APPL is falling into the same bad habits that MSFT has, the same problems they had the last time that Jobs was not in control of APPL.

So this begs the question.... "Is Jobs still in control?"

'Can you hear me now...'

Actually I do not keep up with this thread or the inclination to wade through it. Since the topic police are out inserted that gem to get my Apple diet joke in. 5555!

But thanks for the links will peruse them.

Mr Alan
Apple hopes to fix the problem with a software patch, but there is no guarantee that they can do it without replacing the chip (massive recall).

How would it re-lock phones that were never unlocked to begin with? The patch would only be for the iPhone 3G, which hasn't been software unlocked yet.

As for your rhetorical questions about Apple's software quality - For someone who claims to be familiar with software development, you seem to know very little about what's involved.

DADDYDAFFYDAFTDUCK -

its RHETORICAL or RETORICAL
depending on what you are trying to say

also he asked a QUESTION, ergo seeking an ANSWER or CONFIRMATION not making a STATEMENT

so therefore no need for any flames methinks

you quite correctly stated that he asked a question because he does not know the answer

so im kinda confused by what your thinking is here?
especially as we were asked to be respectful here and yet it is YOU sir Daffy of Duckville that is being rude and obnoxious to us mere mortals

knock it off I will be forced to ignore you and blind you with the power of the blackberry advert

errr iDuck.... your attempts to justify the failures of the iPhone 3G are reminiscent of what MSFT was doing when Millennium and Vista was released. Let's look at this point-by-point.

First, what I stated was the conclusions of the editor of MacWorld, not my own.

Secondly, of course I know what is involved in testing, and if it is a core functionality that is failing (i.e. dropping calls on a global basis) this is *not* a simple bug but is a result of bad testing.

I would understand if the product dropping calls in one or two remote places, these situations are usually the result of local compatibility issues hence requiring a patch. But globally? This is a failure of core functionality and in any applications I have helped design/develop it would have not got out the door.

Bottom line is that even members of the APPL community are saying that the product and its software was rushed to market, could have stood for more testing, and releasing it in this condition was a failure on the part of of management.

"Can you hear me now..."

BTW: I do not reinforce my arguments by talking trash about your abilities (tho I could) so why don't we keep the personal comments out of this discussion...
