Got mine today -- from the SUPER SECRET Apple store. 8GB, iPhone 3G (still holding out for a 16GB). Very impressed by the little things, the attention to detail, many of the minor improvements.
Yeah, 3G is nice, but not earth shattering; GPS is nice, but not a game changer;
The improved screen renders photos in a very nice improved fashion; the improved speakers are louder, and much better; The plastic back fits nicely and comofrtably in the hand, reception is better overall; many nice touches.

hhhmmm yeh I missed them, thats why I also been posting in those threads too - or have my posts been deleted from there too
yes we all understand what data loss is, it was just very weird that it was so specific and only affected ONE thread and certain posts??!

hows the new software (which I guess u will now install on your old iphone anyway?)
i guess its not really a "new" phone, just the old one has been improved slightly
did you have any problems activating it, or the usa has that all sorted - sorry did you get it in the usa or is it a secret dealer like mine? you said it was on at&t?

I've been running that new software on my old phone or the past 2 months, anyway - but yeah, the new software is what constitutes the major improvement, more so than the hardware.

This is typical of Apple's way of doing things - leapfrogging introductions, followed by incremental changes to finetune an already good design...

What 'problems' should there be, activating it? You buy it at an Apple Store, they activate it during the purchase process, you go home, and you synch it through iTunes.

In an interview with Gizmodo the company said that Apple/AT&T would not allow home-based activation via iTunes,
particularly the free upgrade!?! how is that going to affect their sales "figures" if they are giving them away free?
