When you stop living in the past as the only sources of information you can drudge up, please check back in. There were activation problems the first 2-3 days, mostly due to Apple's server's buckling under the onslaught, but there were no problems at all during the last week, worldwide.
What next, dredging up some articles last year about the iPhone getting unlocked, and claiming that proves the present one is unlocked...? (Say, speaking of which, how come we don't hear any news from YOUR unlocked iPhone....? Hmmm....?)

The iPod Touch, running version 2.0 software, syncing with Apple's MobileMe [Exchange for us non-corporate netizens] and loaded with apps. courtesy of the iTunes App store has turned out to be a fantastic experience- literally an extension of my laptop.
If Vannevar Bush were alive today I'm sure he'd praise the GUI of the iPhone/Touch and consider his vision manifest in these little gems.

On related news - today, the iPhone Hacking Team has released THE FIRST tool to allow hacking, jailbreaking, and unlocking of ORIGINAL iPhones running iPhone 2.0 software.
The same tool allows jailbreaking, BUT NOT unlocking of iPhone 3G - that one is still not software unlocked, and will take quite a while longer (despite what snpark claims).
The good news is that all those with original iPhones will be able to upgrade to version 2.0 of the software, and unlock them, thus allowing use of alternate carriers and rate plans... Which is great news for my remaining stock of original iPhones, as they essentially just doubled in value
