Regulators reportedly examining Apple's truth-telling

Did Apple (AAPL) mislead investors about Steve Jobs' health problems? That's what the Securities and Exchange Commission is trying to find out.
Sources tell Bloomberg that regulators are examining Apple's disclosures on the subject. Investors have been wanting information about Jobs' health for months now, ever since he appeared onstage at an Apple event looking unusually thin. Jobs is a pancratic cancer survivor.
Sounds like proving any wrongdoing could be difficult. The SEC would have to show that Apple kept information about Jobs secret in order to benefit, experts tell Bloomberg. Ferreting out what the company knew, when it knew it and what it communicated to investors is a messy task -- particularly because it relates to a sensitive issue like Jobs' health.
But even if the inquiry doesn't go anywhere, it sends a message to companies that even Apple can't be so dismissive of investor concerns. Apple refused to answer questions about Jobs' health, and when it did talk about the subject, the company flat-out lied.
"I'm doing fine, really," Jobs told CNBC's Jim Goldman in September. He blamed rumors about his health on hedge funds with a short interest in Apple. Three months later, Jobs' health concerns are so serious that he takes a leave of absence from the company.
“The good news flipped by the bad news makes one wonder what Apple knew,” a law professor told Bloomberg. “It’s not surprising for the SEC to come in and look afterward, given the pressure and publicity regarding their handling of a lot of cases."

Nokia profits drop 69%, lowers 2009 outlook.
Smartphone percentages were particularly low for the company. Although Nokia believes the number of smartphones shipped by any company grew to 48 million, a boost from 40.1 million in late 2007 as well as from 44.2 million in the summer, its own smartphone shipments have continued to drop and reached just 15.1 million phones during the holidays versus 18.8 million a year earlier and 15.4 million from the third quarter of 2008. About 8 million of the phones were Nseries models, while 3 million were Eseries business phones such as the E71. The 5800 XpressMusic and other devices fill in the remaining 4.1 million.

Total BS service from True. After paying in advance for the iphone and waiting 4 hours in line, they told me the SIM card will be sent within 7 days. 7 days past and they told me another 7 days. As compensation for delay, I get a 200 baht coupon towards purchase of accessories from them. WTF????
