Whilst I would love to poke the Duck over APPL the fact is that you will still be able to ride it for sometime. Bottom line is that last time SJ quit APPL (and I do not mean his Leaves of Absence) they were a one pony show with the basic Apple PC as their only lead product. The clunky thing it was APPL could not survive riding that pony alone so they nearly went bankrupt until SJ came back to save the company. Today APPL has 3 market leading products backing their clunky PCs along with a few more Jobs inspired products in the pipeline. Because of this SJ being there will not affect the APPL bandwagon for several years to come. Sure the stock will drop a little as the average idiot bails on his investment but as Kramer would say this 'pullback' is a buying opportunity where you can build your stake at a discount price. Now a year or two down the road, when the pipeline is empty and there is no SJ to inspire and develop new innovative products, it will be a different story and APPL being a pure consumer products company could go the way of Gateway, Palm, and RIM. But until then you can ride the bandwagon and make a few bucks... Disclaimer: I do not now and never have owned APPL, I only invest in high dividend yielding stocks and trusts so I have no dog in this fight.

I doubt he makes it to the next scheduled board meeting. Will be very interesting to watch the AASJ (Apple after Steve Jobs) transition. A true marketing genius, RIP. I was working in Silicon Valley for Amdahl Corporation before and after the start up of Apple computer. Larry Ellison the founder of Oracle used to work for Amdahl Corporation. Many of Amdahl's development engineers and system engineers, along with other valley electronic geeks in their spare time would build home computers. They spent a lot of time sharing tips and parts. Soon many started computer clubs. Some members and clubs would sell computer kits (parts/instructions), so people could build their own computer. Essentially for just the cost of the material. Some of them would even build computers for people. Jobs/Woz just started building the same computers that others were exchanging for free. An interesting perspective memory chips then were 8K. Amdahl's large scale air cooled mainframe business computers ($3.5 - 6 million dollars) came configured with 8 megabytes of memory. The MSU (memory storage unit) with 2 swing gates fully populated with memory printed circuit boards was as large a home freezer (the size of a very large US refrigerator). Architecture engineering thought it was fantastic when they strung several MSU's totalling 32 megabytes of memory on a prototype mainframe. The advent of the 16K memory chip was a huge milestone. 555!

Bingo! Apple, on average, has about 5 years foresight in their products and strategy, sometimes longer. I feel confident in Apple until at least 2017 or 2020. I'm far more concerned for Steve Jobs than for Apple. The publisher of his autobiography, which was scheduled to be published next June, has moved the release date up to next month, while denying that it has anything to do with health. :-(
