How I see sponsorship......
If a mate sponsors a lady.....
*He has too much baht and he don't know what to do with.
*He is extremely lonely and desperately seeking for a female companion cause he knows he has no chance in the REAL world.
*Just a dumb ass who is in constant denial.

Ah the eternal debate, Shanghai girls vs Beijing girls.
My two Yuan is that the Shanghai girls are more cosmopolitan and therefore more western in attitude (i.e. "What have you brought me lately"). Beijing girls on the other hand are more practical in nature and less demanding. On the other hand they do not "travel well" and can commit some quite embarrassing "faux pas" when you take them overseas.
There are two other types of girls, Chengdu and Guangdong. Guangdong girls usually speak good English and have a lot of exposure to western life styles. But unlike their Shanghai sisters they are more practical and much less pretty. Chengdu produces a lot of stunners who (since it is an International Heritage Site) have adopted western lifestyles. The big problem here is that their English skills are not as well polished.
Of course in all discussions of this nature YMMV...

Your observation about "customer service" could be one way to look at it-----
On one of my earliest visits to this Moo Bhan my Mainlander, who was quite ill at the time, "offered" her sister to me for the duration of my stay.
Now this could be taken as "customer service" - OR that my Mainlander had got what she wanted out of me and wanted to get rid of me BUT still wanted to keep the cash flow in the family.
P.S. Just for the record - I declined.

So, essentially, you go there every 2-3 months... at this rate, do you sponsor her out of convenience of having a regular, or do you actually intend on 'taking the girl home' at one point - and whatever your intentions, have you made those clear to her as well?

Do any sponsors really intend to take the girl home someday? It seems to me that long term sponsorships are more of a mistress arrangement as if the person were planning to take the girl home, why hasn't he...

i think to sponsor is not a wise thing but in some rare cases if some one thinks her girl loyal it is ok but very rare almost impossible
