The group-think mentality of the village Arramsey describes is interesting indeed, and very Asian. That works both ways too. For instance, a while back I was talking with my TGF about getting old, and how I was worried if I died much sooner than her, she would be left alone for too many years. Her response was that she would always have her son, family, and her village.
She also challenged the premise that I'd be the first to die. Her comment was, "I not sure I live long time, you know." A typically fatalistic (though not negative) outlook. She also followed that comment with: "Teelakja, if I get sick like that, we have to find you other lady in my village so you not lonely."
As bro's on this forum know, I've been sponsoring my TGF going on now for 5 years, though with her recent raise at work, that sponsorship amount has gone down yet again. I don't really think of it as sponsorship anymore, because we both actively plan how the money is spent every month, and my TGF's paycheck now pays a large part of our BKK-based expenses when I'm not there. From the very start of the sponsorship, I had her do a budget every month, and buy into it. By and large, for 5 years, she's stuck with the budget. Frankly, she's more frugal than I am, and it's caused me to become less profligate a spender. As was said in this thread, there are many types of sponsorship, and the very concept evolves over time.

Not a reformer. I admit that I am a monger and accept the fact that I will probably end up in the Third Circle of Hell (the circle for the 'Butterflies').
But unlike some members of this board, who pay for sex but try to justify it by saying that they are providing work and support for these girls and are actually helping them, I will not end up in the Eighth Circle (Traitors and Hypocrites) which is far worse.
As for you Brother Arramsey,
If you were not sating your ego, why do you post your 'achievements' on this board? The true philanthropist is the one who goes unnoticed...
