All, I'm doing a round-the-world trip for 1 month and I will stay in Hong-Kong for 3 days for the first time. Since I have resigned from my company, I have a tight budget and I would be interested if someone could recommend a cheap (40-50 US$) but correct hotel close to the nightlife in HK ? I'm more interested in the "regular" nightlife area than the typical "red light" area. Many thanks, Latrell

Latrell, I'll be staying at the Stanford Hillview hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui area of Hong Kong for US $57/night including taxes. I had to do a lot of browsing to find a hotel even that cheap. As this will be my first trip to HK, I don't know how good this hotel will be. This link has other hotels as well http://directrooms-china.com/stanford-hillview-hotel-hong-kong-339.htm Good luck.

Most of the hotels are expensive in Hong Kong so if I was you I would book one out of the city but on the MRT line as it does not take long to get around Hong Kong Island, it is not that big. Plus if you are on a budget and your hotel is on the MRT route you can get on the Train at the airport and get off near to your hotel much cheaper than a taxi and a good fast clean ride. I normally stay at the Newton hotel in Electric road north point which is pretty central and close to fortress hill MRT station but it is about $90 a night.

try the Hotel Concourse near Prince Edward station in Kowloon. Cheapish and close to lots and lots of affordable action. Very guest friendly too.

Don't make a reservation just go to the intersection of Jordan and Nathan Roads. In the building on the NE corner you will see names of some hotels on the outside of the building. They are cheap and they are small. Yet the one I was at was also clean. If you want to be closer to the action just check http://www.sex141.com and most of the buildings that the girls are located in also will have a simular hotel there. I just mention the Nathan/Jordan building as I have stayed there a few times.

Try the Chartehouse in Wan Chai close to action GF plus reasonable price for the quality & location (that said I have noticed Hotel prices in Hong Kong rising steadily after being stagnant for years!). Also as mentioned before the Stamford Hillview is quiet good (short walk up a step Hill ) for the money & is also GF, plus close to some nice Restaurants!
