Why would you go to Sville from SR? Think about SR to PP, then to SVille, then back to PP if you need to leave from there. Bus to/fr PP/SVille is $3.00 each way. I was planning to be in Cambodia in October, so will miss you. Recommend staying at the California 2 Hotel in PP. Run by a guy fr SDIEGO CA, and he knows a lot about the area, and can give you much advice.

Funny, different strokes for different folks. I really liked Zanzibar in Siem Riep. Funky little hole-in-the-wall. The owner there is quite a character, and the lady I s/t'd out of there really sweet, my best s/t in Cambodia.

I have heard of Zanzabar, and I believe that I went there one time. If it was the same place, it was quite enjoyable. Beer over ice, lots of dancing, and the way they serve beer, is that they bring multiple beers and sodas, and then what you don't drink (open), they take back. They charge for what was opened. Where in SR in Zanzabar... so if I havent gone, I will next time.

Zanzibar is a little box-car shaped bar with no dancing, etc. Just a bar with a lot of stools, think there was a pool table in the back. Forget the exact location, as we moved around a lot that night, but it's easy to miss. I recall it being near one of the main venues mobius describes. Mobius, do you recall the relative locale?

Actually, I'll be flying into SR from BKK, stay there for 3 nights, then take the boat back to PP for an overnight stay. Take the bus down to Snooky the next day for another 2 to 3 nights. Then will be back to PP for 3 to 4 nights. After that I'll fly back to BKK for 2 additional nights before heading back to the US

p.s. I haven't yet decided on where to stay in SR. Any recommendations? I'm thinking of a place called Royal Villa/Hotel which sounds pretty decent and is close to the town area too

The Zanzibar is located on Sivutha Road just next to the Bakong guest house. It is a small establishment with one pool table, a bar with stools, a few tables and a TV set. The bartender is French. The place is OK to drink in but like I said, the quality of the women was poor. There were too many ladyboys or some sort of strange creatures for my liking. I only went there one night and talked to a number of girls and soon got tired of their hardluck BS stories. I took one to my hotel and she turned out to be a bit unbalanced (more than usual for a hooker) and had to kick her out. I got to say that the bartender did warn me about her so it's my own fault for not listening. I really had a better time going to the other bars about 200m away around the Ankor Wat? pub. It could be that I picked the wrong night to go to the Zanziba. It might have been a full moon night.

Sorry about the double posting. I thought the first one had not gone through.
Some airfare info:
Bangkok to Siem Reap and then return from PP to Bangkok cost me a total of 9100 Baht from a travel agent in Bangkok. Airfare from Siem Reap to PP was $68. I travelled on Bankok Airways and Siem Reap Airways and found the planes to be clean, new and well run.
I had forgotten about Sharkeys in PP. That also was a great place with a lively atmosphere and plenty of ladies. Drinks were a bit expensive ($3-$4).
