Although a long time lurker, and with many visits to SEA, this is my first report of a recent visit to Siem Reap.
I flew Bkk Airways direct and stayed at the Angkorland Hotel. Girlfriendly as I had booked a double room.
The first night I was asked to pay an additional US$15 joiner fee, this was dropped after I reminded them
of my double room booking, no issues on any subsequent night.
Siem Reap was pretty quiet due to Buddhist New Year celebrations. Like Songkran in Thailand, most of the
girls had left Siem Reap to go visit home.
I had been advised by friends in Bkk to visit the following places whilst in SR.
Sok San - Sok San KTV/massage old market area - this place was closed during my visit
Top Town Karaoke - Local MP ( not too many girls available when I visited) quoted $40US ST
Doremi Karaoke - MP over the river bridge from Old Market.(not too many girls available quoted $60US ST
Dreamworld- Large MP located over the river bridge from Old Market. (lots of available girls) quoted $50US ST
they weren't keen for foreigners to use their facilities, take out only.
Zone one: Disco with extras + Restaurant. Just seat yourself at a table in the garden area outside and a Mamasan will 'bring around some girls. Quoted $50US LT
There were a reasonable selection available, although Mama indicated they were down by a dozen due to the holidays.
Took a Viet girl first night and then local girls the next few nights. Overall quite good service with friendly Mama.
Siem Reap was quite fun but definitely a visit only for other cultural pursuits like the amazing Temple Ruins at Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat.

i was quote USD 80,, but the real price is USD 25 LONG time.
Siem reap is cheap if you don't pay quoted prices.
The temples,, well the CITY of Angkor is truly amazing and well worth the visit.

I've been twice in early Dec and I found it hard to get a shot without bodies in it. Buddhists from N. Asia mostly. Think about the weather. You want to miss both the monsoon and the intense heat. You don't want to be walking around climbing temples in either one. IMO Nov - mid Dec would be the optimal time for a lack of tourists. With the downturn it might not so crowded though, so Nov - Feb would be good. In the winter it gets pretty cold at night (bring a sweater) and warms up pretty good during the day. wj

Last week in SiemReap. Hotel Steung Siem Rep, very good location a few meters away from old market and all bars and massage. I insisted not to be charged for the girl and after some discussion they agreed. I recommend the place.
I also recommend Temple bar, where you have reasonable food, music, pools and girls hanging around. Easy place.

Sorry if was not clear ! Some hotel will charge you if you come with a girl, even if you booked for two. I had booked for two, but I had to discuss quite hard to get the hotel to agree if I was coming with a girl.
I am speaking of the room charge by hotel, not of the service charge to the girl.

Thanks for the clarification arthur348. How much was the room and where did you book?
What other bars besides the Temple bar did you visit. Did you make it to the disco/dance place?

Booked from Agoda. Can't remember the price exactly, something like 60USD but I will check.
Just stayed two nights.
One night the taxi took me right after the temples visit to Top Town, around 7.00PM. Much too early for this place; totally empty except for mamasan and one girl. As it is not down town, I thought, well, here I am, I am tired..OK I take it, as she looked to me very beautiful; she was. 50/50 vietnamese/ CAmbodian.
It was quite hectic...no time tonight to explain; she was a real pro for quite a long time, so a bit picky; but in the end I managed it, and it was OK still 50USD.
Took a girl at Temple bar after, and the two evenings; 30USD; OK.
I went 5 minutes to Zone1; plenty of nice girls I think, but no time for me to stay.
