I tried to give you the hotels that would fit your needs, now you are wasting time sorting out a decent room. Why isn't Tim getting you into a room that will take cash? There are plenty of them in the area.
I can help you tomorrow (Monday) if you need assistance at the embassy, or geting your CC straightened out. It sounds like they got other charges on it not from your use. A reason why I stressed using TCs, and NOT CCs, remember?
If you would like some help straightening out your situations just message me, and I would be more than willing to help. Dr. Love will vouch for me if you have worries that I'm not up, and up.
I just want your trip here to go well, as do the rest of us. Your hotel nightmare is not something uncommon, but Tim should have taken care of it in a correct manner given the situation.

Wow! Hey guys, thanks so much for worrying and trying to help. Let me try and write this story out in a non-boring (*and less than 10 million words*) manner. I want to start thought by mentioning that other than this hotel problem, the shopping (every asian woman in the far east is shopping this week), and taxis, I AM enjoying Bangkok. I have had some of the finest food ever, I have had THE finest massages of my life, and I am f***en SURROUNDED by the most beautiful women all friggen day long!!! Bangkok is great!
My credit card has been giving me trouble the minute I started planning the trip to Bangkok. Buying the Emerite Airline ticket, they blocked (and I lost the chance to buy that ticket, see earlier posting). Buying the first three days on agoda.com, they blocked. Buying a bus ticket, they DIDN'T block (it was in the U.S.A...)... So, I had to deal with them twice already, but I told them I was heading to Bangkok and not to block my charges. I guess they just don't listen. The Balance on the card is ZERO, I paid all my debts before starting this trip. And before you say it, there wasn't enough time to get a second credit card approved before the trip, and I hadn't had trouble with my credit card before, because this is my first attempt to travel out of the U.S. ever. So, yeah, my credit card sucks, but I didn't know that, and I TOLD them I was going to Bangkok. Now, I can't phone them, but I will take some effort as mentioned by several of you guys (local office, etc.) and see what I can do. By the way, I have only made one attempt to purchase anything with my credit card, and it was via agoda.com, which was blocked. So I don't think there's a real problem, it's just my card blocking ANYTHING from outside the U.S.
The problem isn't a lack of money. I actually brought significent cash on hand so I wouldn't be at risk with the credit card. The PROBLEM however is that I can't get a hotel room reservation without the credit card. So I ended up trying to walk in and arrange to pay in cash. All the clerks said they were full. So just need to make reservation online, and the room situation will be fine. Just now in a message, I was told booking.com will make reservation without a credit card, so I will use them once my Darjelling Days are over.
I want to mention again that Chang (Elephant) has been a fantastic help. Not only did he go incredibly out of his way to book me a room at another hotel for the one night I couldn't stay at Darjelling, he also ended up physically walking me to the Super Rich office. So SaucyTim was right to recommend Darjelling to me, it was just a bad safe box and lack of rooms available on Saturday, that caused me to look elsewhere and start all this problem. If you're looking for a cheap hotel very nicely located, I can indeed recommend Tim's go to hotel (cheap) of Darjelling. I am paying only 1000 baht a night... So don't blame Tim, blame me for booking only three nights, and then getting a room that has a broken safe.
I went to a fantastic restaurant yesterday. Actually it was an ugly place, but the Chicken Cashew thing I got was so damn good that I can ignore the condition of the place. And I recognized that it was on the street Dr. Love and I went by taxi to get from Soi 33 to Soi Cowboy, and he pointed out Poseidon (I think it was) when we passed it. So I thought I would walk to it... Got so lost, I was getting followed by feral dogs. Took about an hour to finally flag down a Taxi, and he couldn't take me to Poseidon... So gave up and went back to the hotel. So, Thaiafiando, thanks for the step by step direction, I will try it tonight.
I hate the taxi drivers here, they've been a real problem. It's possible I don't speak English well enough (ask Dr. Love, he was with me for several hours, thanks again dude!), but they can't read the names when I write them down, either. So I have been walking SO much that I've lost weight. The shirt Dr. Love said was too tight on me, now fits.
Yes, this trip has been an adventure... Lots of bads, LOTS of goods, incredibly different from anything I have ever been to before. The main thing is, with the exception of the day after that LONG plane flight, I have been out of my hotel room ALL day long, out and about in Bangkok. But yeah, unfortunately, I am doing bad with the women. I think Soi Cowboy is not for me at all, and I simply got lost trying to go to Poseidon. I will try other places, and simply keep on trying.

Great reporting. I can tell you not bullshitting as it all makes sense. We have all been there, it take a while to understand how bangkok works.
But for god sakes-wtf are you doing taking taxis-other than to and from the airport you an get by withouthem as long as you learn the bts and subway-they take you everywhere a newbie needs to go.
And for hotels, your chang friend sounds like he sucks..............hahaha. The alley at NANA bts with subway at the front always has hotel rooms in the 1200 range. I find it difficult to believe all hotels are sold out.
Who is saucy tim....sounds like he is a tout for your hotel as its owned by a farang. Who books a hotel with a space in the middle???????????? Just a pain in the ass.

MS, getting to Poseidon is easy. Just tell the taxi driver Ratchada Soi 17. The 12 storey building is just before Soi 17, on the main road.
Don't forget to try Eden Club on Sukhumvit Soi 7/1. If you're not into threesomes, then you could consider taking one girl for LT (10 pm - 6 pm), the rate is 4,000 B.

I think it was the Pegasus that DrLuv pointed out to you on the way to Soi Cowboy from Soi 33. So maybe that's why you had such a hard time finding the Poseidon.
