It was funny to see a perfectly nice block of massage parlors turned into a vacant lot in only one night. Though instead of building anything back, Chavalit turned it into a nice park. One of the most valuable parks in Bangkok, considering the worth of the land it sits on.
Actually, it was just a bunch of beer bars there. And the guy's name is Chuwit.

There were some massage shops there too. Been there a couple of times and had some nice sessions despite just curtains !

Exactly what I do as well - all those toiletries are cheap and easy to find upon arrival.
I usually head over to a Watson or Boots store and pick up what I need, or lately I've had one of my regular girls pick up "the usual" for me upon arrival - plus she greets me at my hotel, which is verrrrrrrry convenient.

I loved the Chwit bill boards when he was running for parliment or something like that.... pointing his finger and running on an anti corruption pledge.....
I stayed a few time on Soi 10 at the center point and the beer bars there used to be a lot of fun.
One day tirac and I went upcountry and on the plane ride back to bkk I was reading the bkk post and there it was, soi 10 beer bars demolished.....
I woudl say that was the begining of the end of the night life in bkk... if you think about it, some other soid have come to life, but I don't think bkk is anywhere close to the fun it used to be as back then. Plus, with the economy doing so badly people just don't have the money to play like before.
This along with the acceleration of technology where now girls don't need to rely on bars to get guys amkes the traditional nightlife a little slowere than what is was.... not that it is going away, just slower....

Somewhat my thoughts too when I hark back to those days of Soi 12 beer bars and massage shops, the Doll House on Suk and Clinton Square. Fortunately several seedy massage shops still survive from those days although the girls keep changing.
