They both start with Ch....lololol. There has been a huge reduction in beer bars along Sukhumvit since that disasterous night.
Used to be a huge beer bar section next to Soi Cowboy, that Thaksin's wife bought out, and built the corner development on. I came out of one of the bar beers one night, and ran right into an elephant, it didn't even flinch.
Then all the little groups of them along Sukhumvit below soi 17 to soi ZERO are all gone. I do miss soi ZERO....lolol.
There were bar beers at soi 10, but I only remember the cheap massage parlors.
MS, your buying is OK, but you might want to bring your own deodorant with you if you use a specific brand. You might also want to bring some good DEET mosquito repellant with. Their numbers will be up with all the water left standing this year. The daytime ones are the baddies in Bangkok carrying Dengue fever. The numbers aren't too high given the population size, but still it averages about 30,000 cases a year in Bangkok.
You might want to start trying to meet a few Thai girls by going onto the ThaiFriendly.com website. It is free, and you might meet a few dates while you are here. It isn't all hookers. Set up a profile with picture, be honest with them, and you will get contacts wanting to meet you when you are here.

I went and signed up/created a profile for thaifriend site. Had a lot of problems, wasn't until I finally went back to Internet Explorer (first time back on that in like 3 or so years!) that all the buttons needed to create the profile appeared. But can still view the site on Chrome so it's okay in the long run. Now to look at all the pictures. Grin.
As for the mosquitoes, I happen to be extra juicy in the bug culinary world (they love me WAY more than the girls do), so I will take serious heed to this. Is DEET stuff NOT in Thailand, because I know pressurized containers like that would cause a LOT of problems getting on the plane.

There is Deet repellant available in Thailand, but if you need the really high % ones, they are difficult to get.
Searched days for Jumping Jimmy, but not available in Pattaya or Bangkok. It seems only one shop in Pattaya who stocks it.

... following flooding, the WHO, NIH and other such 3-lettered health organizations warned of waves of mosquitos bearing really nasty gifts... the Thai Ministry of Health stopped reporting their weekly disease incidence reports amid the peak flooding, alarming international epidemiologists about a possible cover-up by the Thais, desperate to attract tourists back... this, I believe, is well within Thai behavior.
... fortunately, no outbreaks are apparent... I live in BKK... amongst our household of 5, no mosquito bites... no discernable swarming... that might be different if you are wading in the areas still with standing water (far from city center).
... MS, bag the DEET... you can get repellant here if you need it, but you probably won't... unless you are drugged and dragged away, upcountry, by a bar troll (the subject of another thread), which is more probable than contracting cholera, malaria, whatever, from a mosquito bite on your ass.

Question for you guys... I think I might be under mistaken impression regarding the soapy vs. oily. I thought soapy was basically a shower and a tub with super bubbly soap. Then that the oily was that Japanese Nuru stuff, the slippery "oh my gawd how did she get under there, wooah!" thing... But my examination of the posts here and Pattaya-addicts seems to suggest the difference is quality of girls and soapy being more expensive??? Please help. Thank you.

OK, this does vary a little but the good Soapies (IMHO) will run a large Bath with extra bubbles whilst chatting to you to get you comfortable & ensure your not a Serial Killer etc. After undressing you & her good self she will carefully guide you to said Bath tub and position you in such away as to have you floating above her. She will then thoroughly clean you from head to toe.
She will then rinse you off, then depart the tub while you are admiring her extra cute butt & layout an airbed next to the Bath which she covers with lots of soap bubbles. From there you lay on the bubble covered air bed and she proceeds to give you a body to body slipping & sliding massage!
After this its a very quick rinse/shower & dry before retreating to the real bed for a short nap or something more involving!!! This is the reason for the higher costs usually involved in a Soapy over an Oil massage!
The Oily is pretty much how you described, both have their charms!
