Did we scare off the OP?
My electric bill is at least 250 USD and up....the rent is ridiculous high.
For international schools, I know one school charge around 10K UDS per year per kid and other charge around 20K USD per year per kid....I dont know the rest of other school....so the teacher should get pay very decent?
Another option is apply for gov't jobs...hopefully get to work for the embassy here or the FBI...but the rotation is every 2-3 years?

Easy to do 2k in two weeks -
But if you were staying say 6 months (like in my above break down)
You might do long time every 3rd night - and short time every 3rd day/night and just have a night off twice a week-
The 2k a fortnight on holiday is average if anything maybe slightly down -
But you did say you put hotel on credit card- I usually spend 50,000 a week after hotel is paid - (when on holiday)
And maybe 20,000 a week when staying a few months-
Upcountry 15,000 a week

You definitely can live here good, and much cheaper if you don't drink alcohol.
You're less suceptable to overprices quotes for ST, or LT, there is a greatly reduce party price to pay, and you can have just as much, if not more fun. The majority of the girls would prefer not to be seen with a drunk....hahahaha, but for the right amount of money they make exceptions.
It gets real cheap here if you get a girlfriend that lives with you. No barfine to pay, no ST, or LT charge, and that is about half, or more of the price you will pay trying to live here if you don't have a live-in. Two can actually live cheaper here than one.
Vacation here, and try to find a job. You will understand then about how hard it is to get one with your skill set.
Living off investment interest works very good, as long as you refuse to touch the base that pays the interest. Do that, and you can live here the rest of your life without lifting a finger. Some years are better than other, but at least you don't HAVE to work if you don't want too....hahahaha.

... people living big in Thailand come here after already made their money... honest exceptions are rare... I even question if the crooks who come here are really so successful by western standards.
... I just don't see it popeye... do the vacation thing and look around, but I wouldn't quit the job, sell the car and give up the apartment.
