That is false for the majority of antibiotics. No different that from most other drugs in general. It is true, but for a selected few, just the same as it is true for some other specific drugs.
That wrong blanket perception that Duck conveys as a fact is a legacy from the time when doctors started using antibiotics to treat STDs and consumption of alcohol often lowered the willpower of the patients to abstain from sexual intercourse while still not fully cured.

You may want to re-read my careful choice of words in what I wrote, as I made an allusion to alcohol's ability to decrease the imbiber's common sense and increase their risk taking -- which would undermine the PURPOSE of taking the antibiotic in the discussed case, as a means to reduce risk.
In other words, I was referring to how alcoholic consumption affects the drinker's behavior, not the effectiveness of the antibiotic itself.
In fact, if I had wanted to express what you incorrectly assumed I was stating, then that is the word I would have used, 'effectiveness', as it would be the appropriate term.
I have a little confession to make, though, that I have carefully chosen the construction and wording of that sentence as a small trap for the 'Perpetually Punctilious And Supercilious Pedant' that you are. I knew it would be impossible for you to pass up the perceived opportunity to correct me - which worked in an almost ACME-like fashion, sadly, leaving you with egg on your face. 
Still, while the Match-Point goes to me, I can't claim a full victory, as I merely took advantage of the assumption that English is not your native language, which does tarnish the shine of victory somewhat :-(
But hey, it's all in good fun, right? Maybe you will take a lesson from this to be more careful in your scrutiny of words and how sentences are constructed.
(and, inclosing, it's Milk / dairy products that have the potential to decrease the effectiveness of cipro or amoxicilin type antibiotics, as the calcium interferes with the effectiveness of the drug - alcohol only makes you dumber)

I am aware of the cipro/calcium interaction. And by the way that means that cipro should not be taken not only with milk and dairy products, but obviously also with any kind of calcium fortified food or liquid.
But I'd be interested to know your sources for the interference between amoxicillin and milk/dairy products consumed together, as this is the first time I hear about this?

Martch point? Victory? How silly! DD you really need a new hobby or a pet.
The purpose, the intention, the reason, (anyway you want to call it) for taking antibiotics is to get cured, to get rid of an infection.
You state as a fact that mixing alcohol and antibiiotics undermines the purpose of taking the antibiotics. Well, the reason to take them, the purpose, the intention, is not what is undermined or weakened.
You will get cured despite drinking alcohol. Thus, the purpose for you taking antibiotics was not undermined.
However, if during the treatment your determination to abstain from sex was undermined by alcohol before being cured, you could pass the infection to another party. And that has to do with abstention and nothing with the missing of antibiotics with alcohol.
You may need to review all your long explanation and look for another angle. Your posts as it was made still is wrong.
BTW, your later post trying to explain yourself to come on top is too much of a stretch after the fact. And not convincing. By the way, if it is true that ahead of making your posts you go through the process of selecting words solely thinking about how to bait me, well, that is sad and speaks volumes about you. Anyway, I do not believe your follow up post and think that it is just an after-the-fact attempt at trying to explain the obvious error.
