It may not help but my brother had this problem about 20 years ago and they were going to do major surgury to "fix the problem" He then started exercising to be fit for the surgury and the problem went away. As of now he is still fit (60 years old) and still no more problem.

About a year ago I went totally deaf in one ear overnight and developed really bad Tinnitus. I was in Dubai at the time and went to a hospital there who were virtually no help at all. I returned to BKK a week later and went straight to Bumrungrad the ENT guy there was brilliant and booked me in for a week on heavy doses of IV steroids and various other pills and potions. After five days my hearing was back and the tinnitus was gone.
I would give them a try because it could drive you mad.

Just wanted to confirm what EC says above. I got my tinnitus last November and started this thread in December. I spent three months in BKK in January-March earlier this year and made several visits to ENT at Bumrungrad but their medication did not help me at all (the main medicine I got was Duxaril and some vitamin B). I spent about 50,000 THB for doctor's fees, medicine and different tests at that hospital. Nothing against Bumrungrad as I really like that hospital but it just seems that there is no medication to cure tinnitus at present. Of course Baskoy's experience is different so it might be worthwhile to see a doctor anyway.
I had to eat sleeping pills for the first two months after I got tinnitus. After that I managed to sleep without pills but had to listen to white noise all night before I could fall to sleep. After another two months I could even sleep without needing to listen to white noise and that is still the case.
It is a nasty thing but, as EC says, you can learn to live with it. Good luck.

It's nerves - not something an ENT can cure.
Get fit.
MickTheKick's December 13 post gives a very promising treatment proposal that does work - there are two schools of thought: one for playing the same frequency, one for playing the resonant frequency. Either have shown success.

My experience was a slightly different case, as I said my main problem was the sudden onset of deafness in one ear which was accompanied by Tinnitus. The ENT at Bumrungrad cured the deafness and the Tinnitus went at the same time. Still think it might be worth a chat with them.
