ThaiMobile is 1900 CDMA, not GSM.
Their website is only in Thai, but the GSM link I posted above indicates they are GSM1900...

Operator Name:ACT Mobile Company, Limited
Network Name:ACT GSM 1900
Technology:GSM 1900
Network Status:Live August 2001
Web Site: http://www.thaimobile.co.th

I believe the only CDMA networks in Thailand are CAT CDMA and Hutch; both 800 MHz systems.

Correct Sai Tai... Thai Mobile is GSM not CDMA.

I don't believe they have prepaid packages but only on monthly basis.

MBK is your best bet. It shouldn't be locked, anyways.

Report from Bangkok Post dated 14 January 2013 :-

Clampdown on prepaid phone expiry
===========================

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) has given five mobile phone operators until Friday to scrap the expiry date on prepaid mobile credit.

NBTC secretary-general Thakorn Tantasit said on Monday he had informed each mobile operator -- Advanced Info Service (AIS), Total Access Communication (Dtac), True Move, TOT Plc and CAT Telecom -- to remove the expiry period on refills for prepaid numbers or face a 100,000 baht fine per day.

However, the NBTC will later allow each operator to propose an expiry date for its prepaid services, but did not say when that will be introduced. The proposed dates will be considered and then the number of days will be decided with the agreement of all the operators.

The watchdog also ordered the phone operators to register prepaid customers' personal data by recording their 13-digit ID numbers. Violators are to be fined 20,000 baht a day.

The regulation under which mobile phone calls made from Jan 1, 2013 are set by law to a maximum rate of 99 satang/ a minute will also take effect this Friday.

Earlier this month, the NBTC fined the five mobile phone operators a total of 140.32 million baht for failing to properly register prepaid SIM cards as well as failing to revoke the expiry date on prepaid mobile services.

Terminal 21 shopping center, 6th floor has AIS, DTAC, and I think True. Very convenient.

I wanted a prepaid phone/text SIM for my old iPhone 3GS, and a data-only prepaid nano SIM for my iPad mini.

AIS was the first shop I found. I got a 3G nano SIM with 3 GB for 798. Works well and I get 3G signal pretty much everywhere I go on Sukhumvit and Ratchada. Using it to turn my iPad into a wifi hotspot right now since the Four Points Sheraton charges for internet except for the lobby area.

But AIS could not get a SIM to work in my officially unlocked AT&T 3GS. Finally the guy told me to go next door to DTAC. DTAC thought they got me set up when the flood of messages started streaming in. But later I found I could not make a call or receive a call. Just about to take it back when I thought to turn on cellular and 3G data even though I didn't want any. Must of been some setting that needed to be downloaded as data. Turned off the data again and everything is fine. I think the AIS problem might have been related.

Thank you for the information. Never stopped to look on the 6th floor for mobile providers. Always got distracted by other stuff.
