In the last couple of weeks bought both the new Ipod Nano and Iphone 3GS (Not for me) I still stand by original analysis... What a piece of shit for a phone, bad audio quality, poor reception, battery life sucks and dropped calls.

Buy an iTouch for all the nice apps & features and buy a real phone to make your calls.

My girl now needs to carry two phones, the second phone to make phone calls with when the iPhone is dead or cannot make a call. Geez!

Where did you buy the iPhone? Is it an 'unlocked' and 'jailbroken' iPhone, in other words, an MBK special?

My experience has been (of course) counter to yours with LEGITIMATE iPhones, and paralleling yours for users with hacked / jailbroken / unlocked iPhones.

My first generation unlocked iPhones never had these problems (as the unlock was done on the hardware level), and continue to be reliable. My second generation iPhones (iPhone 3G) required a software based unlock, and the hack method was an incredibly shoddy hack job, resulting in bad battery life, and less than reliable performance;

I finally went to Hong Kong to purchase a legitimately Apple unlocked iPhone 3GS, and I have had no issues running it on AIS here in Thailand (except for the damn reception issues in my room on the 45th floor, which I verified every single other phone to be affected by as well - mental note, lower floor next time).

So, what is the origin of your iPhone?

Legit 32G 3GS on the TRUE promotional plan.

Also have a problem not being able to sync up with iTunes. I looaded the latest iTunes. The iPhone is running 3.0 software can not upload 3.a software or sync any music from iTunes get an error message.

Onwards to TRUE for some bad service. It is not the Apple experience.

After years living here I am now convenced that Thai's do not give a shit about selling anything (except cars) so it is no use complaining and taking your business elsewhere they could give a rat's ass! This is true regardless of being a foreigner or Thai.

I assume you are on a Windows machine -- and that some Windows crap is screwing up iTunes. Would not be the first time.

I suggest reinstalling iTunes, which should reset whatever Windows screwed up.

After that, perform a RESTORE on the iPhone and let it completely reinstall the software - you should be fine after that.

The price of the 3GS (32Gb) is 29.995 baht on True. They are still delivering to people on their waiting list.

The phone is unlocked. You can use it with any provider.

Agree with TU. I've bought an Ipod Touch (32Gb) for 15,000 baht. Don't see a reason to spend 15,000 more for an Iphone.

DD it was a completely fresh install of the latest iTunes on a SONY Wintel laptop. Also, tried updating the iPhone software from the installed 3.0 to 3.1 and they gave an error as well.

I will take it to TRUE went I have an afternoon to piss away. Still sucks as a phone.

High marks for the new Ipods Nano.

Looking forward to the Apple tablet and wonder wether it will have a phone and if it does will it use a bluetooth earset or hold the whole thing on your shoulder next to ear like a ghetto blaster.

What about the gray market imported 3Gs phones from HK that are available for sale in MBK and elsewhere? Has anyone purchased one of those? HK is one of the few places where the iPhones are not country locked.

Posts from Thai Visa this month...

<<Was at 3 true shops yesterday. None had stock, none new when they were getting more stock.
Went to MBK got 2 16gb Hong Kong Official unlocked instead for 26500 each.>>

<<just got my 3GS today at istudio oposite the Paragon shopping center. 32GB for 30,495 baht. unlocked and no TRUE simcard or any other. they had about 20 in stock.>>

I'm beginning to find reasons to have both. If you haven't upgraded to the 3rd generation iPod Touch yet it's worth the speed bump in processing power. Everything just works but better/faster.

Well I used my wife's Iphone over the weekend. Staying in BKK so had 3G. Hotel, had no music so I was using YouTube to play Music videos. Speed was quite fast. I was surprised by the quality of the inetrenal speaker and I have big fingers, but in using the keyboard I was amazed how well the keyboard worked.

Butt it still sucks as a phone and camera, so I will be buying a ITouch for myself.
