I had three message notifications this morning on the mini with 3 different temporary passwords. I was able to create the my verizon account with the third one. I also downloaded the My Verizon Mobile app so I can view my account settings and pay from it.

I pre-ordered a car holder from ProClip USA yesterday for the mini. (They have a 25% Black Friday discount through Saturday.)

I already had a holder and mount for my iPhone so I just had to order a new holder for the mini.

They have custom mounts for most car models. I have a mount that clips to the round air vents in my Audi.

They are not cheap but in my opinion well worth the cost.

Which tablet mount did you get? The only one I see is one available for Pre-Order. Is that the one?

Yes. Eventually they will carry more versions to fit minis with different sized cases but I can't wait to get it mounted on the dashboard.

I connected the mini to the existing iPhone interface in my car. Relieved to see with the new mini connector that I can still control volume and track changes with the steering wheel controls.

Yeah, ditto - same for me (I have a DICE MediaBridge BT), all controls work *but* it isn't charging the iPad mini (indicates "NOT CHARGING") - as I suspect the MediaBridge provides minimal 500mAh, which isn't enough for the iPad mini.

I'll need to find some sort of power injector to feed a 10W signal into the dock connector via the iPhone 30-pin connector.

What interface do you have? Manufacturer supplied?

Mine is a Dice as well. But an older model that connects to the CD changer wire harness in the glove box.

You are correct. Mine doesn't charge either. I heard the familiar beep when it connected and never noticed it wasn't charging. Good that the battery life is so good with the mini. I will probably live with it until I trade cars and have another new interface to deal with.

I dig this thread. Good information.

I bought a special harness that plugs into the back of the radio, and thus allowed me to place the MediaBridge behind the glove box (the factory install should be in the trunk, which doesn't work with the BT and sometimes creates a buzzing sound because the long cables - the dashboard install is nearly perfect).

Well, I might have found a possible solution.

It's a 30-pin extender that plugs in-between the iPhone/USB 30-ping cable, and the 30-pint to Lightning adapter. Connect a regular USB cable to an available cigarette lighter / power adapter and plug it in on the side.

This feeds power from the USB into the iPhone connection. I'm using a Scosche C2 adapter, which provides sufficient power for iPad (and TWO USB ports, actually), and should do the trick.

I ordered it yesterday, so as soon as it's here, I'll see if this works.

Received the injector today. Doesn't seem to work as intended / expected. More tests are indicated, and I'm contacting the manufacturer.

Not giving up.

I installed a ProClip car mount for the iPad mini today.

The holder swivels and tilts so the iPad can be vertical or horizontal. I am using a Lightning to 30-pin adapter to connect the mini to the existing interface cable.

The ABS plastic of the ProClip holder did scratch the aluminum edge of the mini slightly on the side where it snaps in and out. I probably should have waited until ProClip offers some holders that work with cases.

But this is not the first scratch and won't be the last. The aluminum edge scratches very easily. Just bumping the edge against a crystal drinking glass put 2 scratches on it.

The mini is my go-everywhere device so it is going to get banged up a bit.

Still waiting on my Pro-Clip.

How difficult was installation into the car itself?

Guys, tell me if I am right or correct me please.
I have a one day stop in Bangkok on the way to a weeks work in Saraburi and I hope to but a tablet in Bangkok, either iPad or Samsung Note, let's not get into the debate but I reckon best bargain would be at MBK as they fall into the mobile phone shop category more than the Panthip and computer category. Chai? Or is there somewhere else?
I'd be grateful if the lads who are resident in Bangkok or have recently been tech shopping or both could give me some advice. Cheers.
