i usually stay at shangrila (ironically usually the kowloon one) but that block is pretty much wanchai, can be walked in 5 mins or taxi in 6 mins cost u about $5 max

Stayed at Wharney Guang Dong, it's right next to Escape (previously Fenwicks, which is my favorite hunting ground in Wan Chai). The room was kinda small. I prefer Empire Hotel Wan Chai, which is less than 100m from Escape. The rooms are spacious, and price very reasonable. It's so close that it's always tempting to go for another round if you're doing a ST. 
Last time I stayed at Empire, they upgraded me to a junior suite, I think. I had lots of room to fool around in.

tbh if u do love the shang, its actually better to stay in the kowloon one - its half the price, the rooms are twice the size, you get to look at the view of hk island and the lights and lasers etc (instead of looking at shabby tsim tsha tsu) and the kowloon shang is very laid back and friendly and gf too (they both are) but the island shang is bigger and "colder" more businesslike, staff arent so friendly and as I said its x2 cost and smaller rooms
stay in shang kowloon and spend $5 on the taxi under the tunnel or unless u want to walk around wanchai then stay there
