Hotel? No way, unless you head out of town. HK is very different from BKK. You can do 80-100 in Wanch, 70 in Sheung Wan. You can get under fifty at places like Chung King Mansion in Kowloon -- great location, but an ancient block converted into little rooms with a bed and shower. Considered by some to be cheap ($20 US) lodging, by others to be fire-trap lice/roach factories. Up to you.

I agree with Philly and would suggest that his HK estimate may be a little low.
Even across the border in ShenZhen and GuangZhou it is difficult to find a hotel for less than USD 85-90, especially if you are a Westerner  ...

USD 20 to 30 guesthouses are available at chungking mansion, lower nathan road.
its clean rooms, but you have to share shower and toilet.

Here is a link to a site that I have used that can give you the idea of the price of a hotel in Hong Kong. The website is legit and the times I have used it everything was fine. http://www.macau.com/en
Mostly when I visit Hong Kong I make my way up to the area around Nathan Road just north of Jordan Road, mostly Nanking Street, on the east side of Nathan. There are several Small hotels that are mostly used for short time purposes, but are fine for the tourist also. The rooms are small but spotlessly clean and the prices over night are around the 400HK price. The area is good for transport, and also the area is fun as on the part of nanking on the west side of Nathan is the epic center for fun.
Oh, I just found the card for the hotel I stayed at the last time I was there, The Kum Loong Hotel, 312 Nathan Road, Kowloon http://www.kumloonghotel.com

Whilst there and calling back to speak with my mum, I've always pronounced it koom-luung hotel, as mummy thinks quite highly of me, and it give the place a more professional image for a short time hotel.
