Thanks Pete, appreciate the feedback. Think I will stay there regardless of policy. I will only be in SR for two nights. Curious though, where have you stayed? And any recommendations in general?

I stayed at the Casa Angkorian Hotel which I love it a lot. Not a big mega hotel but a very classy and cozy place in a French colonial setting. I was lucky as I was traveling to SR in Sept which is the low season for tourist. I paid only $40 for the deluxe room with a big balcony which they charge $80+tax during regular time. The location is excellent too as it only took me about 8-10 min of leasure stroll to reach the old town section (incl. Red Piano) but yet far away from the traffic, the noise and the dust. Well, as far as recommendation goes, there are sanuk possibilities but you probably be dead tired after climbing around the temples the whole day I suggest you go to the temple early in the morning, coming back to town for lunch, take a splash in the swimming pool to relex and chill out, then head back to the temples for the sunset At night, you only need to hang around the old town area as all major actions are around there. Restaurants, bars, disco, mp are all within walking distance and easily accessible.

Not too sure what is your budget for SR. But I just got back from SR 2 days ago and I stayed at a very new 4-star hotel, Borei Angkor which is about $100 a night. Very good service and superb rooms. There are quite a few new hotels in SR which have just opened and it is worth checking them out : - Preahkhan - Angkor Palace Resort & Spa - Borei Angkor

I have just returned from SR and I stayed at a Hotel which was only built and opened 6 months ago called Rithyin Villa E/mail sotheaross95@yahoo.com Ph [855]12 707 499 or [855]12 677 645 This place is only one block back from the river and main town center.and everybody was realy friendly.including the m/bike taxi drivers who will take you to all the temples and look after you.I shared a room [twin] with a english backpacker I met and it cost $6[us] a night,$3 each.OK so it didn't have aircon and a bar fridge, but did have toilet,shower,hot/cold water, fan,tv,all clean sheets and towel and the room was clean.Expect to pay a little more for a room with aircon. I'll take Cambodia over Thailand anyday, Thailand is too westernised for my taste and when people smile at you in Cambodia they actualy mean it. Not to mention the Khmer girls
