The Shamrock Irish Club has (predictably) thrown in the towel after just a few months in existence... replaced by CK Bar, owned by a Finnish gent who pours the occasional complimentary shot of voBKa for his customers. The selection of ladies is slightly better than the Irish guy, but nothing to walk across town for.
Degas is still closed "for rennovation", 4 months on. The old Oliver Reed's location is now a Japanese karaoke. Mojo's has reopened under Office ownership with little changed except that it now includes the old Jina 33 space, where Bob has installed pool tables.

Stayin at RITZ apt. above Napoleon bar (this place is not a dump after all,no hassle for girls,UBC,for 1 k I think it suits my needs by now),,soi 33 seems so quiet,a few nice girls here n there but nothin to write home about,i would not waste any money sittin in bars but your opinions may differ...several new spots has popped up,all in all is always a pleasant walk to the skytrain after 6 pm.

Well, the girl who is my constant companion when I am in Bkk is from Soi 33. Never asks for money. Its only the Bar fine I pay. She sees me off at the Airport and I give her the cab fare back home.
Treat well and get treated well. There is a good human somewhere in these girls.

Livingstones is a very nice place. Beautiful rooms, very good food and lovely ladies in the bar. And the front desk staff very courteous and efficient.
On the flip side I had a rather ugly encounter up the street at the "teen massage".
They offer some testicle massage. But upon entering the place without even getting to see any of the girls they demand payment. Rather surprised I informed the lady at he desk it was rather unusual to demand payment before even seeing a lady. Whereupon she began to curse me out and ordered me to leave and threw salt at me. Very nasty and ugly experience me thought! Stay away!
I just walked back to the hotel (livingstones) bar and encountered a sweet lady with whom I went to the Hyatt for some dancing. She was delightful company all through the night.

You were lucky to get off that lightly. There is a story on Sammyboyforum about a guy who was chased down the soi by one of the Teen mamasans trying to hammer him with her shoe. His crime was to complain about a girl who shortchanged him. Or the guy who was smacked with the photo album because of some remarks about the age of the girls. At Teen you behave, or else....You better study Livingstones excellent review of the Sukhumvit massage shops next time.
The mamasan must be the same lady who tried to convince me to take the cashier back to my hotel for 10,000 Baht. Only later did I learn that she is the sister of the mamasan. Obviously trying to keep the business within the family.

I was in Soi 33 last night, and visited a few places. Most of what I found were 8 to 10 ladies "lounging" around outside or behind the bar. They were yawning or talking on their cell phones and most had a very bored look on their face. Just a couple of smiles and hellos...most couldn't care less and didn't have the time to try to welcome me. When your charging 1200 to 1600 baht bar fines, there should be a little enthusiam.....but this is just my opinion.

the best thing to do when pissed by service is just pay up and leave. thailand aint america, you aint goona be able to sue for being mistreated.
about 1k barfines. I would be uninterested too as most guys aint goonna pay that kind of barfine. for the price of the fine u can get a long time lovely at beer garden.
