Soi 33 is one of my regular haunts. Blue Heaven is one of many that I haven't visited (there are so many and I tend to stick to the tried and trusted) but I'll pay it a visit. Thanks for the tip.

I'll be totally honest and say I think most of soi 33 is just a waste of time. The atmosphere in the whole area is poor, and you can find much beter looking s in nana and cowboy. Think people go there cause they think there more "in the know" about bangkok than the nana and cowboy guys. One upmanship crap!!!
Go to nana or cowboy you'll have much more of a laugh, of course this is just my opinion!

Yes I agree if you can't afford the prices in soi 33, then this would put a damper on the atmosphere and it can be a pretty miserable place... (a) Girls pretty  (b) Boys miserable...
But I went there on the advice of a friend and I do not regret it one bit. 
I would hate to live/vacation in LOS and have to watch my pennies... That must be HELL on earth...

I don't go to NEP at all, unless a friend is buying drinks.. only then will I put up with the noise..
Cowboy is much the better place IMO..
soi 33 is also very good for a nice change of pace.. no noisy as a rule.. drinks before nine are less than at NEP and about the same as Cowboy..
The girls tend to be a bit more "polished" on soi 33, but YMMV a lot there..
I too am glad that pennies don't rule my entertainment.. but soi 33 is not all that much more and to avoid the techno-crap music at 200 db is priceless...also, less smoke and the girls as a rule do not hustle drinks as hard

i went to a soi 33 bar
sorry, which one i'm not sure
all I remember was the girls were sitting outside in red dresses, 'tried" to speak japanese to me and it looked like a karaoke bar mi- way down the left side of the soi
the bill for 3 beers (me and 2 friends) 2 cups of peanuts, 1 lady drink and 1 lady 2,000 baht
i asked her to break down the bill and there were all these charges for "table charge" per person (?) WTF, charged us for the peanuts and we were the only sh^t heads in there 
should have known it was bad news 
if you know which bar this is AVOID it
hell avoid all the non-open air bars there
it ain't worth the baht my phone # is written on
my bad for going in there

My guess is that you look Asian (and probably are).
There are two (or three) places on the left hand side (next to Oliver Reed) that cater to Japanese customers (and those who look like). An example is Casablanca.
As with most Japanese places, charges are different and more excessive than the 'western bars'.
But can't catch your drift about avoiding all the non-open air bars on Soi 33...... did you see any open bars?
