Was in Soi 33 on 26th Dec around 9pm and I was surprised just how quiet the street was - it was almost deserted. I was in Soulmate Bar for about an hour and there were only two other customers. The girls were saying it appears to be a lot quieter than normal but they were hoping for a good New Years eve
Wandered around for a short time after that but there did not appear to be much in the way of customers. Not sure if this was just the fact that it was Boxing Day or a sign of the times

There rarely are very many customers on Soi 33, with the exception perhaps of the Office and Lookie Lookie.

As I said, the high bar fines exist for a very long time even when Soi 33 was popular.
The majority of Soi 33 visitors consist of expats who go for a drink after work (Like I and my fellow workers for years).
Due to the recession, many expats were called back to their home countries.
That contributes largely to the downfall.

Soi 33 seemed even quieter to me than normal. Even Lookie Lookie was quiet.
A Dali the girl I was with claimed BF's had come down from 1,650 to 1,400, as a sign of the times perhaps.
Napoleons had lots of lovelies in their white uniforms, and several new girls in black. They seem to be attracting some of the girls from the other bars because they are one of the few places that have been consistently busy. I think the Japanese have discovered it.

Actually, QQ, I took one of the sweetest country bumpkins from Wallstreet once. She barely spoke a word of English, and was on the job less than a month, but damn she was sweet and sexy. Soi 33 in my experience has an odd mix of brand new girls and a slightly older crowd, some of whom, as you say, can be rather mercenary if they have been in the business for a while. I tend to avoid these. But I have found quite a few gems over the years in both groups.
One thing I have found is that they tend to be a little hornier than the average SC bar girl because they don't get taken out as much. They are at the opposite end of the spectrum so to speak from the girls on Soi Sex in PTY, at least on that measurement.
But I have also sensed with some that they like Soi 33 precisely because they don't get taken out much and it is mostly about drinks. Like everywhere, you have to try to sense where the girl is at and pick the right one for you. Like you say, it's all about the attitude, I agree. My girl last night was rubbing my cock as I was squeezing her bum, the whole time we chatted. I took that as a good sign.
I never think about whether the BFs are "good value" or not. For me it is just about enjoying the more relaxed atmosphere of Soi 33 while I search for gems. If I find one during their happy hour, great. If not, SC is always right around the corner.

I've bar fined a few of the girls form soi 33, but also met many of them at home after work or at the end of the soi after their shift. I know many of the old hands here still don't believe it but there is plenty of action to be had in the bar. I know for a fact that someone can confirm this as my mate was interrupted while receiving a double-header blow job in soi 33 on Monday night. This brings the total to 8 bars that girls have provided in bar service in soi 33.

Koolbreeze, NYMICK, the former Dr. Love and I visited Dali's on Soi 33. For a Monday night the joint was jumping, as maybe 10 guys other than us there. I was surprised by the number of customers.
One of the women there I know well, so I got some interesting information. Her salary is 5,000bt a month, with no required minimums for LDs and BFs. However, she loses 200bt if she doesn't get a punter to buy a bottle of booze (2000bt) during the month.
LDs are 160bt and she gets to keep 50bt. BFs are 1,400bt and the girl gets 500bt of it. Apparently before it was 1,500bt the girl kept 600bt.
I think coke was 60bt, but am not sure. There were about 20 girls there - a couple of years ago there were at least double that amount. But, times are tough. The girl I talked to said she had no LDs and no BF the month of June so far.
I didn't like the music - it didn't add anything to the place. And, ash trays were everywhere and guys encouraged to smoke.
There were 3 pool tables in a separate area, and 2 of them were in use the entire time we were there (about 1 1/2 hours).
Dali was the 2nd bar that had paper towels to dry your hands.
We had an okay time, but the high LD prices and lack of good music didn't make us want to stay long.
