I don't understand this post. Is the poster claiming that the venerable Orchard Towers has recently been shut down completely (surely not), or does he just not care for the number of LB's who frequent the place? Can anyone who is actually there in Singapore straighten this out?

There is no changes at Orchard Towers except for Top Ten closing down. There are renovation work going on in the former Top Ten premises, so within a few weeks I guess a new venue will open.
Ipanema is more crowded than usual these days.
Could also be more LB around in the towers than normal, but they are easy to spot anyway.
Good party at Orchard Towers any day of the week, and there is long opening hours. In the weekend Ipanema closes at 06.00 am while Naughty Girl closes at 07.00 am. other venue closes between 04.00 and 05.00 am.
Not sure about the weekdays though, but they are surley open longer than the "norm" in Bangkok.

Orchard Towers last night, just to help the bretheren you understand.
Top ten has the padlock and chain on the door with an under renovation, reopening soon notice.
Maybe it will be a new top ten?
Really liked the old one, hope it continues.
However, there is still plenty of pussy in the building!

a local told me that top 10 was going to open somewhere else in singapore soon. they should not re-open in OT because of the high rent increase.
i guess we will know when that happen.
still a lot of pussies in OT, but not the same quality, I have to say. although top10 wasn;t that busy in the last few months before the closure.
i will be in singapore on monday..i will keep you informed if I got news.

I was in Singapore last week but had very little time. In any event, for those who don't know exactly what Orchard Towers is (as I didn't despite reading about it), Orchard Towers is four floors of legitimate businesses by day and lots of bars (open at night) and some massage parlors (open during the day and I presume at night). Even after reading these boards, it was still unclear to me. As has been stated, it is known locally as "four floors of whores". I had little time but stopped by "Thai Massage" on the third floor ( I think 3rd floor, next to several massage places, the girls call out to you) during the day and got a Thai massage from Yo-Yo, who is from Burma (Myanmar). A very sweet lady, fairly cute, about 30. She then suggested that we move to another parlor down the hall, which we did (I believe out of legality) and then of course the subject of extras came up. Covered bj and she took off her top and let me play with her for 60 Singapore dollars (as I recall). I would wait for them to bring it up as you can get a better price and don't expect things to be as cheap as Bangkok.
In any event, Singapore is definitely worth visiting, it's a very nice city, although not as fun as Bangkok but not bad. Very hot, seemed hotter than Thailand. I stayed at the Shangri-La, which is a very nice hotel and within walking distance of OT. On Expedia it cost me about $210 U.S. a night and then for roughly $30 - $40 (Singapore) more, they upgraded me at the hotel to the club level (well worth it, very nice room with a great bathroom) where you get a free breakfast (very good) up on the 28th floor, free cocktails at 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. and some other extras. I would highly recommend this hotel.
After my business was done, I visited with a buddy of mine who lives in Singapore and he is nothing extraordinary in the looks department but does have a fat wallet, he apparently has a great life there. Lots of pretty girls, more than he knows what to do with (in fact he unsuccessfully tried to pawn one off on me), but after about a year of the Playboy lifestyle he apparently is settling down with very beautiful Malay girl (Playboy material, far too good for him) and he might marry her (I told him he is losing his focus).

thinking of making my first trip to singapore should I expect to spend substantionably more then Bangkok? from all the threads i've read a hotel room seems to be around $200 a night & something close to the same for LT

Singapore on a budget (slumming again).
Gayland St. Hotel.......more like a motel for 35.00 U.S. a night. Metric shitton of girls on street corners at night around the place and around 15 soapy places near-by. 50.00 U.S. about average for a soapy, some with window shopping others where they bring the girls out and you select.
Some nice hotels (4-Star) can be had for under 100.00 U.S. with pick-up discos attached.
20-30 minute drive to Malayasian border, 5 minute taxi ride to first town/city and a tea blow job for around 20.00 U.S. Karaoke and buy-me drink bars on every corner.
